I <br /> 1 Due to a nationwide waiver, BABA requirements do not apply to raw materials (iron ore <br /> 2 and alloys), scrap (recycled steel or iron), and pig iron ore processed, pelletized, and <br /> 3 reduced iron ore. <br /> 4 <br /> I <br /> 5 The following are considered to be steel manufacturing processes: <br /> 6 <br /> 7 1. Production of steel by any of the following processes: <br /> I 8 <br /> 9 a. Open hearth furnace. <br /> 10 <br /> Ill b. Basic oxygen. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 c. Electric furnace. <br /> 14 <br /> I15 d. Direct reduction. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 2. Rolling, heat treating, and any other similar processing. <br /> I 18 <br /> 19 3. Fabrication of the products: <br /> 20 <br /> I <br /> 21 22 a. Spinning wire into cable or strand. <br /> 23 b. Corrugating and rolling into culverts. <br /> I 24 <br /> 25 c. Shop fabrication. <br /> 26 <br /> I 27 A certification of materials origin will be required for any items comprised of, or containing, <br /> 28 steel or iron construction materials prior to such items being incorporated into the <br /> 29 permanent work. The certification shall be on WSDOT Form 350-109EF provided by the <br /> I <br /> 30 Engineer, or such other form the Contractor chooses, provided it contains the same <br /> 31 information as WSDOT Form 350-109EF. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Manufactured Products <br /> 34 Due to a nationwide waiver, BABA requirements do not apply to manufactured products. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Construction Material Requirements <br /> I 37 A Contractor provided certification of materials origin will be required before each <br /> 38 progress estimate or payment. The Contractor will not receive payment until the <br /> 39 certification is received by the Engineer. The Contractor shall certify that all construction <br /> I <br /> 40 41 materials installed during the current progress estimate period meets the Build America, <br /> Buy America Act.
