From: Michael Brick
Sent: Thursday, February 9, 202310.36 AM
To: Yorik Stevens-Wajda; Thad Newport; Steve ingalsbe
Cc: Kelsey Heyd
Subject: RE: PW2301-018 PLANS.20230123_16152271.pdf
I agree with yorik that allowing "interim" improvements and waiting until the site really redevelops for
full frontage improvements makes sense. Traffic is definitely OK with a striped walkway here; the route
will meet all of our minimum requirements as long as they provide wheel stops as shown on the
plans. There are also a couple of existing doors along this frontage that swing out, they would require
some pretty significant changes to be able to open if a standard sidewalk was installed along this
frontage.
Michael
From: yorik Stevens-Wajda <YStevensOeverettwa.eov>
Sent: Thursday, February 9, 2023 9:34 AM
To: Thad Newport <TNewoort0everettwa.Rov>; Steve ingalsbe <SingalsbeiReverettwa.eov>
Cc: Michael Brick <MBrickr4everettwa.gov>;Kelsey Heyd <KHevdC&everettwa.eov>
Subject: RE: PW2301-018 PIANS.20230123_16152271.pdf
Yes we're ok as an interim improvement. I think it's more likely than not that that this area will be torn
up and rebuilt as part of the light rail extension starting in 5-7 years. Also a change of nonconforming
use is a relatively weak nexus vs, e.g., improvements on the site.
Here are the three choices for light rail alignments and stations. When you add construction staging and
station access improvements to the direct property needs for alignments and stations (which will cover
up two entire an entire block), there's a high likelihood that anything we build gets torn up soon.
