ORDINANCE No. 2840. AN 0? DINA:CCE fixing and determining the number of the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett ; prescribing the duties of such officers, assist- ants, deputies and employees; fixing their salaries and repealing Ordinance No. 2794 of the city of Everett, and all amendments thereto, and providing that this Ordinance shall take effect on Tanuary 1, 1940 . THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That beginning Tanuary 1, 1940 , and on and after said date , the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett, in addition to those pro- vided for in the Charter of the city of Everett , shall be as in this ordinance provided. Section 2: CITY ATTORNEY: There shall be in the office of the City Attorney a Deputy city Attorney and a stenographer. Said Deputy City Attorney and said stenographer shall perform such duties as the City Attorney may authorize and direct. Section 3: CITY HALL: There shall be in the City Mall one (1) janitor and one (1) assistant janitor. They shall perform the janitor work in connection with the City Hail. Section 4: LIBRARY DEPARTMENT: There shall be in the Library Department , the follow- ing named officers, assistants and employees: One (1) librarian; One (1) First Assistant Librarian; One (1) 0hildrens' librarian; One (1) Cataloger; One (1) Substitute Professional Assistant ; One (1) Desk Clerk; One (1) Clerk (part time ) ; One (1) Typist and Clerk, and Various Assistants (part time) . The Librarian shall be in general charge and have supervision of the Library Department. The other officers and assistants shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of their office and as authorized and directed by the Librarian. DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE Section 5: CITY CLERK: There shall be the following named deputies and assistants in the office of the City Clerk, to-wit:
