•
CORRECTION RESPONSE LETTER
Job Address: 423 Rockefeller(PLAN 3, 3542)
Plan Check No: C2007-013
SEPT. 29, 2020
James Bronder, PE, SE Associate Engineer Plans Examiner ("..2,7
r b '`<< `Lt1
3200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201 OCTD,
3 0 2020
CITY OF E vr.
RE: Building Permit Correction Response Letter Permit Qy..;Rr- ' r
•
Dear Mr. Bronder,
CORRECTION:
1. On Sheet A2.0, plan notes indicate a dwelling-garage separation for walls. However, it
does not appear to contain notes for fire-resistive protection for the habitable spaces
above the garage. Please verify and revise notes and plans as required. IRC Table
R302.5.
RESPONSE: On Sheet A2.0, plan note added to FLOOR PLAN NOTES "Dwelling/Garage Fire
Separation 1. Garage shall be separated from the Residence and its attic by min. 1/2"
GWB applied to the wall garage side and 5/8" TYPE X GWB applied to CEILING garage
side.
CORRECTION:
2. On Sheet A4.1, a glulam 5.125 x 15 or 6.75 x 13.5 is proposed to transfer both gravity
and overturning forces from the 2 nd floor shearwalls. The permit calculations appear to
show a gravity design load check, but does not appear to verify that the proposed glulam
can withstand a combination of overturning forces in addition to the gravity load. Please
verify that this beam and its supporting construction are adequate to carry the load
combination with lateral load overstrength factors. Also, details to transfer the overturning
forces from the shearwall into the glulam beam appear to be missing. Please clarify the
transfer detailing for these conditions. ASCE 7-10 12.3.3.3, 12.4.3, IRC R106.1.1.
RESPONSE: Per Structural Engineer
