SECTION 01 11 00 <br /> SUMMARY OF WORK <br /> PART 1 —GENERAL <br /> 1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> A. The Work of the Contract Documents can be summarized as follows: <br /> The City of Everett is soliciting Proposals from qualified, prospective General <br /> Contractor/Construction Managers (GC/CM or Contractor) for Preconstruction Services <br /> and 'potential construction of the Everett Municipal Building Public Works Tenant <br /> Improvements Project. The selected GC/CM shall: <br /> 1. Support an integrated GC/CM delivery process together with the Owner, Program <br /> adviser (Parametrix), design team and other consultants to maximize Program value <br /> and quality. <br /> 2. Provide Preconstruction Services that include assistance with cost estimating, <br /> scheduling, phasing, logistic planning, value engineering and alternative construction <br /> options, constructability reviews, material selection, building system selection and risk <br /> mitigation. <br /> 3. Provide integrated use of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technology, <br /> incorporating Building Information Modeling (BIM), to allow greater team <br /> communication, trade coordination, clash detection, and work sequencing. <br /> 4. Assist in meeting performance goals of schedule and budget for designing, planning, <br /> and executing the Program. <br /> If the GC/CM firm is selected for Construction Services on this Project, the firm shall: <br /> 1. Execute the GC/CM Contract. <br /> 2. Provide the services typically provided by a general contractor to deliver the Project <br /> safely, on time and within budget. <br /> 3. Solicit and manage subcontractor selection and supplier procurement through <br /> competitively bid work packages. <br /> 4. Provide ongoing cost control through-out the entire Program. Recommend <br /> opportunities of early bid packages and early procurement of long-lead items which <br /> may reduce Project cost and duration. <br /> 5. Participate in on-going "Lessons Learned" through-out the Program and incorporate <br /> recommendations. <br /> Refer to RFP Section 2.1 for a description of the Everett Municipal Building Public <br /> Works-Tenant Improvements project. <br /> 1.2 GENERAL INFORMATION <br /> A.
