; • <br /> n _ <br /> ti <br /> ORDINANCE No. <br /> 2782. <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to and authorizing the attendance <br /> of Harold C. Peterson at the Traffic Officers Training School <br /> conducted by Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois, <br /> during: the term beginning September 19th, 1938, and ending <br /> :.lay 27th, 1939, <br /> WEEREAS, said Northwestern University is conducting <br /> a training school for traffic officers; and <br /> WTIEREAS, in the national traffic contest in the year <br /> 1937 the City of Everett was a winner in said contest in Group 5 <br /> for cities with a population of between 25,000 and 50 ,000 , said <br /> contest having been conducted by the national Safety Council <br /> of the United States; and <br /> EREAS, by reason of winning said award the City of <br /> Everett was granted a scholarship for one of the officers of the <br /> Police Department of the City of Everett to attend said <br /> Officers Training School for said period, and said scholarship <br /> carries with it the following fund, to-wit: <br /> 200.00 initiation fee ; <br /> 200.00 traveling expenses while attending said school; <br /> and5s800.00 maintenance while attending said school; and <br /> ..THEREAS, it is necessary and proper and for the best <br /> interest of the City of Everett that an officer atend said <br /> school, and the officer selected to attend said school by <br /> NORTHWESTEiiN UNIVERSITY _ was Harold C. <br /> Peterson. <br /> NOl , THEREFORE, T^7 CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Harold C . Peterson, a meriber of <br /> the Police Department of the City of Iver•ett be, and he is <br /> hereby authorized and directed to attend said Officers Training <br /> School conducted by northwestern university of :vanston, <br /> Illinois, for the term beginning September 19th, 1938, and <br /> ending —_ay 27th, 1939 . <br /> Section 2 : That during the attendance of said <br /> officer at said training school he shall be entitled to receive <br /> and there shall be paid to him his regular salary as an <br /> officer of said Police Department and during his attendance at <br /> said school said officer shall be deemed a member of said <br /> Police Departnent and shall be entitle to all of the rights <br /> as a member of said rolice Department , and shall be subject to <br /> all of the duties of an officer of said police Department. <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed: AUGUST 17th, 1938 <br /> Published: AUGUST 19n, 1938 <br />
