, ORDINANCE No. )-l c AN OPDINANCE establishing and creating a Planning Commission for the City of Everett, relating to the organization of such Planning Corrunission, prescribing and regulating the duties and powers of such Planning Commission; repealing Ordinance No. 2623 and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency. THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: As used in this ordinance the term: "Council" means the chief legislative body of the City of Everett , consisting of Co -missioner of Finance, Commissioner of Public Works and Commissioner of Safety. "Commission" means the Planning Commission of the City of Everett . "Highways" includes streets, roads, boulevards, lanes, alleys, viaducts, end other traveled ways. "Ex-Cfficio "embers" means the members of the Planning Commission who are likewise members of the Council of the City ofLverett. "Appointive Nembers" means all the other members of the planning commission. Section 2: A municipal planning commission is here- by created and established with powers to make, adopt, amend, extend , add to or carry out an official plan for the physical development of the municipality of the City of Everett , as provided for in this ordinance. Section3: The Conauission shall consist of rine (9) members, namely, the Three ( 3) members of the City Council of the 'dity of Everett who shall be ex-officio members, and Six ( 6) other meribers who shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public -arks , whose appointment shall be confirmed by the City Council. Of these Six ( 6) members not more then One (1) may be a non-resident of the City of Everett. The terms of office of ex-officio members shall correspond to their respective tenures. The term of each appointed member shall be Six ( 6) years, except that the terms of the members first appointed shall be one, two, three, four, five and six years. Vacancies occurring otherwise than through the expiration of terms shall ..b filled for the unexpired term. Members r- y be removed ,after public hearing by the Cornaissioner of Public -orks, with the approval of the City Council , for ineffeciency, neglect of duties or malfeasance in office. The members shall be selected without respect to political affiliations, and they shall serve without compensation.
