i
Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Friday, May 7, 2021 3:38 PM
To: Mike Garrett
Cc: Busola Jimoh
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services: 8831 Corbin Drive (BW2012-001) - Second Building
Review
Attachments: I M G_2108.J PG; I M G_2104.J PG; I M G_2105.J PG; I M G_2106.J PG; I M G_2107.J PG
Hello, Mike.
The email follows up on our telephone conversation and will serve as the second review for this project. We will need
two sets of revised drawings and engineering calculations as needed to address the comments.
Please see the attached pictures which show most of the issues we discussed. In addition, please revised the drawings
to address the following:
1. The water heater type and location should be shown. Tanks should be provided with seismic restraints.
2. The heating system and type should be shown.
3. The lean-to roof should be revised per our discussion. Recommend providing the minimum 7-foot
clearance. Verify modifications do not prevent the required eave venting. Transition from the steeper to flatter
roof should not cause water infiltration issues. Roofing on flatter slope should be of type approved by the IRC.
4. The type of the whole house ventilation system and the system requirements should be specified in the
plans. See IRC Section M1507.4 through M1507.7.
5. Verify that the foundation system will satisfy details 10/A9.00 or 11/A9.00.
6. An engineered detail should be provided for the out-of-plane wall bracing. Bracing size and spacing, and
connections at each end, should be specified. Calculations substantiating the design should be provided. Note
that truss stability bracing supplied by the truss manufacturer is not intended for this purpose and does not
satisfy this requirement.
7.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
im
- Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F: 7:30am-12:O0pm & 1:00pm-3:00pm;Tu: 1:00pm-3:O0pm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
1
