• •
Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Friday,June 3, 2022 3:02 PM
To: singhamrit1999@yahoo.com
Cc: kam@cdengr.com
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services:3004 W Marine View Drive (B2205-020) - First Building
Review
Hello,Amritpal.
We have reviewed the application for this project and have some comments to address. This email will serve as the first
review. I spoke with the engineer that prepared the design and copying him.
Two revised copies of the drawings should be submitted for review. Please address the following comments:
1. A site plan should be submitted. See also comments provided by the Planning reviewer(issued separately).
2. It appears that the deck will align with the second floor, and that a new door will be installed at the location of
an existing window. An more detailed partial plan clarifying the deck location, as well as an elevation, should be
provided.
3. Continuing with the previous comment, the proposed construction will impact the existing roof and require
modifications to the exterior wall. Sections and details showing the required work should be included.
4. A detail for the guard construction should be included.
5. Verify that the ledger connection in Detail 1/S2.0 complies with IRC Section R507. In addition, a note should be
included to have the contractor verify that the existing house construction is consistent with the detail.
6. Joist hangers should be specified.
7. Detail 2/S2.0 should be modified to provide fasteners between the joists and blocking. Threaded fasteners
should be used in lieu of nails. The top fasteners are not required.
8. Detail 4/S2.0 may be modified at the engineers discretion to reduce the depth to minimum 2 inches. The
pedestal is also not required if the post is PT.
9. The drawings should include a note to coat cuts, notches, and holes in PT wood with a preservative treatment.
10. The toenail fasteners for the knee braces in Detail 5/S2.0 should be shifted away from the toe to improve
structural integrity. The brace slope should also be specified.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Li
mil Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/T: 8 am - 12 pm & 1 pm—3 pm;Tu: 1:OOpm-3:OOpm
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
1
