T E RRA ASSOCIATES, Inc.
Consultants in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology
and
Environmental Earth Sciences
December 17,2015
Project No.T-7332
Mr. Bill Helsley
Site Development Associates
1724 W Marine View Drive, Suite 140
Everett,Washington 98201
Subject: Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation
Everett Parking
1800—41 st Street
Everett, Washington
Dear Mr. Helsley:
As requested, we have completed a geotechnical engineering evaluation for the proposed parking lot expansion at
the subject project. The purpose of our work was to characterize shallow soil conditions at the site and provide
recommendations for subgrade preparation and pavement section design. We completed our work is accordance
with our authorized proposal dated October 3, 2015. The following summarizes our findings and
recommendations.
Site and Soil Conditions
The planned lot expansion areas lie south and east of an existing office building located at the subject project
111 address. The areas are currently grass covered and landscaped.
To characterize soil conditions, we hand excavated five test holes to a maximum depth of three feet below
existing surface grades. The approximate location of the test holes is shown on the attached exploration location
plan Figure 1. Soil conditions encountered at the test holes consisted of three to ten inches of sod and organic
topsoil followed by granular fill composed mostly of sand with varying silt and gravel content. At Test Hole TH-
1 excavated furthest to the south, older asphalt pavement was encountered below the fill at a depth of two feet.
Minor seepage of groundwater was observed at Test Holes TH-1 and TH-2 at depths of four to eight inches.
The preceding discussion is intended as a general review of ground conditions observed in the test holes. For
more detailed descriptions, please refer to the test hole logs attached as Figures 2 through 6.
12220 113th Avenue NE, Ste. 130, Kirkland, Washington 98034
Phone (425)821-7777 • Fax (425)821-4334
