Fire Pension Board Minutes City Of Everett November 16, 2022 Durable Medical Equipment Moved by Neyens, seconded by Jorve, to adopt the durable medical equipment policy to state, "Durable medical equipment and supplies include items such as crutches, diabetic supplies, wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, hospital beds, oxygen equipment, CPAP devices, etc. A written prescription and pre -approval are required by Medicare and/or the Pension Board. Retirees on Medicare must use a "Medicare contracted supplier" and follow Medicare requirements when renting or purchasing durable medical equipment. A list of Medicare contracted suppliers is available on their website at www.Medicare.gov/supplier or by contacting Medicare at 1-800- 633-4227. If you are unable to purchase or rent durable medical equipment from a Medicare contracted supplier or the durable medical equipment is not covered by Medicare, you must submit a request for pre -approval from the Pension Board if the cost exceeds $2,000. All requests must include a written prescription from a physician, written quote from the supplier indicating cost of the equipment, and a written statement from the member regarding why they are unable to purchase or rent from a Medicare contracted supplier. Benefit levels will be determined on a case -by -case basis." Roll was called with all members voting yes except Board Members Stonecipher and Franklin, who were excused.
