FIRE PENSION BOARD MINUTES <br />CITY OF EVERETT <br />JANUARY 19, 2022 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Fire Pension Board was called to order at 9:30 a.m. on January 19, <br />2022. Upon roll call, it was found that Board Members Franklin, Neyens, Vitalich, and Scott were <br />present. Board Attorney David Hall; and Susy Haugen and Richard Gray, Finance; and Marcy <br />Hammer and Kandy Bartlett, Human Resources were also present. Board Members Jorve, <br />Stonecipher and Huglen were excused. <br /> <br />Susy Haugen introduced the new board members and city staff that will be assisting in claims <br />processing, benefits and the change in organization structure moving forward. Marcy Hammer <br />in Human Resources will be taking over medical claims and Richard Gray in the Clerkâs Office <br />will be handling all the finances and reporting. <br /> <br />Marcy Hammer from Human Resources introduced herself and her new role involving the <br />pension board. She also explained the Medicare and HMA coordination of benefits issues that <br />had occurred between late October and mid-December that caused denial of claims. During <br />quarterly reporting, HMA sent a file to Medicare that caused HMA to become primary and <br />Medicare to become secondary. A corrected file was sent to Medicare on January 10, 2022. <br />Marcy will work with HMA to resolve any remaining unpaid claims. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the July 2021 meeting were approved as printed. <br /> <br />BILLS AND PENSION ROLLS <br /> <br />a. PENSION ROLLS <br />Budgeted amount $ 737,000.00 <br />July 2021 $ 50,653.02 <br />Remaining Budget $ 355,698.27 48.26% <br /> <br />b. MEDICAL CLAIMS <br />Budgeted amount $ 1,810,000.00 <br />July 2021 $ 75,396.94 <br />July 2021 HMA fees $ 13,950.09 <br />Remaining Budget $ 916,732.63 50.65% <br /> <br />Moved by Neyens, seconded by Vitalich, to approve the pension rolls and medical claims as <br />presented. <br /> <br /> <br />Roll was called with all members voting yes, except Jorve and Stonecipher, who were excused. <br /> <br />
