POLICE PENSION BOARD MINUTES CITY OF EVERETT JANUARY 19, 2022 1 The regular meeting of the Police Pension Board was called to order at 9:02 a.m. on January 19, 2022. Roll was called with Board Members Franklin, Haugen, Thiessen, Neighbors and Acting Board Secretary Ashleigh Scott present. Board Attorney David Hall; Kandy Bartlett and Marcy Hammer, Human Resources; and Richard Gray, Finance was also present. Board Members Jorve, Stonecipher and Beckdolt were excused. Susy Haugen introduced the new board members and city staff that will be assisting in claims processing, benefits, and the change in organization structure moving forward. Marcy Hammer in Human Resources will be taking over navigating medical claims and Richard Gray in the Clerk’s Office will be handling all the finances and reporting. Marcy Hammer from Human Resources introduced herself and her new role involving the pension board. She also explained the Medicare and HMA coordination of benefits issues that had occurred between late October and mid-December regarding the denial of claims. During HMA’s quarterly reporting to Medicare, there was an error that caused HMA to become primary and Medicare to become secondary. HMA sent a corrected file to Medicare on January 10. Marcy is working with HMA to resolve any outstanding claims issues. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the meeting of July 21, 2021, were approved as printed. BILLS AND PENSION ROLLS a. PENSION ROLLS Budgeted amount $ 467,000.00 July 2021 $ 42,541.78 Remaining Budget $ 160,175.15 34.30% b. MEDICAL CLAIMS Budgeted amount $ 1,314,000.00 July 2021 $ 61,361.64 July 2021 HMA fees $ 10,568.25 Remaining Budget $ 687,842.66 52.35% Moved by Haugen, seconded by Thiessen, to approve the pension rolls and medical claims as presented. Roll was called with all members voting yes, except Jorve, Stonecipher and Beckdolt, who were excused.
