June 7, 2023 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m., June 7, 2023, <br />President Stonecipher presiding. <br /> <br />Upon roll call, it was found that Mayor Franklin and Council Members Rhyne, Schwab, Fosse, <br />Zarlingo, Vogeli, Tuohy, and President Stonecipher were present. <br /> <br />Council Member Tuohy led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />On behalf of the City Council, Council Member Zarlingo acknowledged the original inhabitants of <br />this place, the sduhubš people, and their successors, the Tulalip Tribes. <br /> <br />The minutes of the May 31, 2023, City Council meeting were approved. <br /> <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin took a moment to recognize State Senator John McCoy who has recently passed <br />away. <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin invited Fire Chief Dave DeMarco to introduce nine new firefighters: Gina <br />Anderson, Matthew Baker, Caleb Dewey, Dylan Holbrook, Robert Lee III, Cody Peebler, Drew <br />Oetgen, Sarah Robinson, and Richard Wisecarver. <br /> <br /> <br /> APPOINTMENT <br /> <br />Moved by Council Member Vogeli, seconded by Council Member Zarlingo, to concur with the <br />following appointment: <br /> <br /> Diversity Advisory Board <br />• Jennifer Cole, Pos #6 – term expiring 12/31/2024 <br /> <br />Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Franklin briefly reviewed her Washington D.C. trip(s) that included the Mayors and CEO’s <br />for U.S. Housing Investment; advocating for additional funding for the City; NYU and Georgetown <br />Law trip with Community Development Director Julie Willie as part of the Policing Reform Cohort <br />to learn more about how to develop alternative response – First Responders Response program;
