Geminus Boeing Project Contract No.EVE-16-2929
Technology Development CEI Project No. 160731
3.2.3 45-04 Air Velocity Measured Data Review
The TAB report [26] represents velocity measurement data at the following 45-04 locations
with a 777-300ER aircraft present in the hangar:
• 2' Above Aircraft Crown (At TBD Start and Ending Locations)
• 2' From Leading And Trailing Edge Of Wing
• 10' Above Floor At Building Perimeter
• 1' From Engine Center Line
• Fuselage Readings Taken At 1' From Plane At Water Line Just Below Windows
At Approximately 10 ft intervals
• 2' From Leading And Trailing Edge Of Horizontal Stabilizer
• 4' Above Floor Held At Horizontal Orientation
According to the report, at each designated location vertical or horizontal velocity was
measured via a hand-held pitot-static spatially averaging anemometer (VelGrid — see
http://www.shortridge.com/velgrid.htm) with positive numbers being downward flow and
negative numbers being upward flow. The only information on specific measurement locations
in the 45-04 hangar is shown in Figure 20 and Figure 21. Note that these diagrams are used as a
general guide since no detailed location measurements are given for any specific measurement
point depicted in the diagrams.
31
