For multiple years, the City has requested this shelter be re-located due to the <br />negative impacts to the surrounding neighborhood and businesses, and the overall <br />impact to our downtown core, and the allocation of resources for public safety and <br />public health responses. <br /> <br />Although the City knows it is difficult to locate shelters, upon further discussion with the <br />County and the Health and Human Services Council Committee, staff recommends <br />acceptance of these funds to work to try and find a new suitable location. <br /> <br />This effort and these funds are entirely unrelated and will not be used in any way for the <br />Waits Motel property. <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Request council to APPROVE the acceptance of approximately $4,000,000 from <br />Snohomish County to be used for purchase of a new congregate shelter site. <br />
