RESOLUTION NO. <br />A Resolution in Support of the Free and Safe Expression of First Amendment <br />Rights for the Arlington LGBTQIA+ Community and Pride Events in <br />Snohomish County <br />WHEREAS, the City of Everett prioritizes safety for its residents and has proclaimed to be a safe <br />and welcoming place for all, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Arlington prioritizes safety for its residents and has proclaimed to be a <br />safe and welcoming place for all, and <br />WHEREAS, the Arlington LGBTQIA+ community has asked for support to ensure the safety of <br />their community and attendees at their upcoming Arlington Pride events, and <br />WHEREAS, we all strive to create a Snohomish County that stands as a shining example of <br />equality and inclusivity, and <br />WHEREAS, the LGBTQIA+ community is a valuable part of our broader Snohomish County <br />community and Everett residents will be attending the upcoming Arlington Pride events. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND THE <br />MAYOR OF EVERETT: <br />1)We join in support of the Arlington LGBTQIA+ community, and <br />2)Furthermore, we call for the City of Arlington to adequately enforce proactive safety <br />measures to protect all who attend the Arlington Pride events, and to safeguard <br />attendees from hate crimes and intimidation, including enforcement of RCW 9.41.300, <br />the 250’ open carry buffer zone. <br />______________________________________________ <br />COUNCIL MEMBER INTRODUCING RESOLUTION <br />PASSED AND APPROVED THIS ___ DAY OF <br />2023 <br />__________________________________________ <br />BRENDA STONECIPHER, COUNCIL PRESIDENT <br />7911 <br />July17th
