GeoTest Services, Inc.
4320 Thomson Avenue, Everett, WA
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES
April 12, 2019
Project No.19-0050
The purpose of this evaluation is to review the critical areas that are present on and/or
adjacent to the property. Our scope of services includes the following tasks:
• Review readily available geologic and soils information.
• Perform a visual reconnaissance of the proposed development site and
immediate vicinity to observe existing site topographic and geologic
conditions.
• Explore soil and groundwater conditions underlying the site by advancing 2
Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) explorations and 2 exploratory test pits
with a client provided excavator to evaluate subsurface conditions.
• Provide a Critical Areas Report that is in compliance with the City of Everett
Municipal Code (EMC 19.37.080).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For this project, GTS was provided with a set of drawings by Dykeman Architecture
dated November 1, 2018. Based on these drawings and discussions with Mr. Kilby, GTS
understandsthat a new two-story residence will be constructed. T I le new building will
have an approximate 2,500 square foot footprint, and involve cutting into the toe of
the existing slope. The cut slope will be retained with a concrete basement
foundation/retaining wall. The plans indicated that the proposed residence will
contain wood and concrete framing, slab -on -grade floors, and shallow conventional
foundations. Structural loads are anticipated to be light.
Please note that the primary purpose of this report is to address Critical Areas on in
the vicinity of the subject property. Geotechnical recommendations regarding the
proposed residence (foundations, retaining walls etc.) are outside of the scope of work
of this report.
SITE CONDITIONS
This section includes a description of the general surface and, if applicable, subsurface
conditions observed at the project site during the time of our field investigation.
Interpretations of site conditions are based on the results and review of available
information, site reconnaissance, subsurface explorations, and previous experience in
the project vicinity.
