• . <br /> 404 <br /> a • ' <br /> ,a • <br /> • <br /> Section 20: FALSE RETURNS, ETC. : <br /> It shall be unlawfulfor any person liable to tax here- <br /> under to fail or refuse to make application or return for a <br /> license or to pay the fee or tax or installment thereof when <br /> due, or for any person to make any false or fraudulent applica- <br /> tion or return or any false statement or representation in, <br /> or in connection with, any such application or return, or to <br /> aid or abet another in any attempt to evade payment of the <br /> fee or tax, or any part thereof, or for any person to fail <br /> to appear and/or testify in response to subpoena issued pur- <br /> suant hereto, or to testify falsely upon any investi,3ation of <br /> the correctness of a return, or upon the hearing of any <br /> appeal, or in any manner to hinder or delay the ;ity or any of <br /> its ofice' s in carrying out the provisions of this ordinance. <br /> section 21: EP:PBC:2 OF 2 ‘,. TIAL INVALIDITY: <br /> If any provision or section of this ordinance shall be <br /> held void or unconstitutional, all other parts, provisions and <br /> sections of this ordinance notexpressly so held to be void <br /> or unconstitutional shall continue in full force and effect. <br /> section 22: PENALTY: <br /> Any person vioaating or failing to comply with any <br /> of the provisions of this ordinance or any lawful rule or <br /> regulation adopted by the ,;ity Clerk pursuant thereof, & all be <br /> deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, <br /> shall be punished by a fine in any sum not to exceed Three <br /> Hundred Dollars (4300.00 ) , or by imprisonment in the City <br /> Jail for a term not exceeding Ninety ( 90) days, or by both <br /> such fine and imprisonment . <br /> Section 23: <br /> Any person required to make any application for license <br /> or to make any report under this ordinance, or to pay any <br /> license fee, or portion thereof, on or before January 1, 1937, <br /> shall have a period of shirty (30) days from January 1, 1937, <br /> to make such application, report or payment . <br /> Section 24: <br /> It is necessary to pass this ordinance for the purpose <br /> of raising revenue to support the city government of the City of <br /> Everett, and an emergency is declared to exist and this <br /> ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication. <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed: December 31 , 1936 . <br /> Published: December 31 , 1936 . <br />
