ORDINANCE NO. 2 645 . <br /> An Ordinance authorizing the City of Everett to enter into a written con- <br /> tract for the sale and delivery of water for a period of thirty years to the <br /> Soundview Pulp Company, a corporation, according to the terms and conditions <br /> heretofore determined and agreed upon, directing the proper officers of the City <br /> to execute and deliver such a contract and declaring an emergency . <br /> WHEREAS , the City of Everett has water for sale and the Soundview Pulp Com- <br /> pany desires to enter into a written contract for the purchase of approximately <br /> twentyl,million gallons of water per day to supply a pulp mill which the said Com- <br /> pany is now operating on the bayside of the said City's waterfront according to <br /> the teams and conditions of a proposed contract between the contracting parties, <br /> filed with the City Clerk and identified by his signature and seal, which pro- <br /> posed contract will abrogate all former contracts for the sale of water now ex- <br /> isting between the parties hereto ; and <br /> WHEREAS , in the opinion of the City Council , the purchase and delivery of <br /> an increased gallonage of water under this contract will provide an increase in <br /> revenues accruing to the City of Everett , furnish employment for additional em- <br /> ployees, stimulate business and promote the increase of taxable property within <br /> the limits of the said City, and it is to the best interests thereof that the <br /> said contract be executed ; Now, Therefore , <br /> TIE CITY OF EVEiETT DOS ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. That the City of Everett enter into a contract for the sale of <br /> water to the Soundview Pulp Company, a corporation, of Everett , Washington, for <br /> the supply of water to its pulp mill in an amount not to exceed twenty million <br /> gallons thereof each day, according to the provisions and terms heretofore ag- <br /> reed upon by the contracting parties to be incorporated into a written instru- <br /> ment in the form now on file with and identified by the City Clerk, for a period, <br /> not to exceed thirty years from and after January 1st , 1936. <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and in- <br /> structed to execute and deliver all necessary instruments to carry into effect <br /> the provisions of this Ordinance . <br /> Section 3 . That it is for the best interests of the City of Everett in the <br /> promotion of its industrial development, in furnishing work for the unemployed , <br /> and the peace, good order and prosperity of said city, an emergency is hereby <br /> declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its pas- <br /> sage and publication. <br /> zc-yt� <br /> Layer <br /> Attest: <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed: April 17, 1935. <br /> Published: April 17, 1935. <br />
