ORDINANCE NO. 2644. An Ordinance creating the office of Field Engineer , prescribing his duties, fixing his compensation, repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith, and declaring an emergency. S , the water department is about to install a pipe line connecting with the Sultan pipe line No . 2 at or near the Snohomish River crossing to con- duct water to the city's reservoirs and thence to the new pulp mill about to be erected by the 'Weyerhaeuser Timber Company and the installation of such work re- quires an addition to the engineering force of Everett . Now, Therefore , THE CITY OF EVEF'TT DOSS ORDAIN: Section 1. That there be and is hereby created the office of Field Engin- eer, and it shall be the duty of such officer to perform the duties of outside engineering work for the city of Everett and such other duties as the ordinances of such city shall prescribe, and such other duties as the Commissioner of Pub- lic 'Works and the City Engineer may direct . Section 2. Upon the taking effect of this Ordinance , which shall be effec- tive as of March 1st , 1935, and continue until repealed by the City Council, the Commissioner of Public works shall appoint some competent person with the consent of the Council to fill said office . Said officer shall hold his office at the pleasure of the Commissioner of Public ,'forks. Section 3 . Such Field -Enginner shall receive in full compensation for his services while in the employ of the city of Everett the sum of One Hundred Fifty 0150.00) Dollars per month. Section 4. All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed . Section 5. This ordinance affects the peace and prosperity of the city of Everett, and it is hereby declared that an emergency exists and that this Ordi- nance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and publication.
