• <br /> M <br /> ORDINANCE No. 2640. <br /> An Ordinance authorizing the City of Everett to enter into a written <br /> contract for the sale and delivery of water for a period of thirty years <br /> to the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company according to the terms and conditions <br /> heretofore determined and agreed upon, directing the proper officers of <br /> the City to execute and deliver said contract and declaring an emergen- <br /> cy. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has water for sale and the Weyerhaeuser Tim- <br /> ber Company desires to enter into a written contract for the purchase of <br /> approximately twenty-two million gallons per day to supply a pulp mill <br /> which said company is about to establish in this City according to the <br /> terms and provisions of a proposed contract between the contracting par- <br /> ties, filed with the City Clerk and identified by his signature and seal , <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council the establishment of another <br /> pulp mill in the City of Everett will furnish employment to a number of <br /> the citizens of the City, stimulate business and promote the increase of <br /> taxable property within the limits of the said City, and it is to the <br /> best interests thereof that the said contract be executed; now, there- <br /> fore , <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : That the City of Everett enter into a contract for the sale <br /> of water to the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company, a Washington corporation, <br /> for the supply of water to a pulp mill to be established on a site belong- <br /> ing to said Company commonly known as "Mill A" , in an amount not to exceed <br /> twenty-two million gallons per day, according to the terms and provisions <br /> heretofore agreed upon by the contracting parties to be incorporated into <br /> a written instrument in the form so filed with. and identified by the City <br /> Clerk, for a period not to exceed thirty years. <br /> Section 2: That the Hayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and instruc- <br /> ted to execute and deliver all necessary instruments to carry into effect <br /> the provisions of this Ordinance. <br /> Section 3: That it is to the best interests of the City of Everett in pro- <br /> moting an industrial development to furnish work for the unemployed and the <br /> prosperity and peace of said City, an emergency is hereby declared to exist <br /> and this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and pub- <br /> lication. <br /> Kayo r. <br />
