Parks & Facilities

SNOHOMISH COUNTY ILA CAPITAL PROJECT
PROJECT NAME: HANNABROOK PARK: NATURE FITNESS TRAIL PROJECT

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Everett Parks PROS Plan adopted in 2022 identifies the development
of trails and fitness activities as two of the top opportunities that will
benefit park users most. Hannabrook Park is specifically highlighted as a
park with opportunities for further enhancements that will complement
the natural elements of the park, including an existing half-mile soft trail
around the park, popular with walkers and runners. Leveraging these
existing amenities, The City of Everett Parks and Facilities endeavors to
create its first Nature Fitness Trail at Hannabrook Park.
The original fitness trail, or sometimes known as Parcours, was first
introduced in Europe in the 1960s by a Swiss architect. The concept
migrated to the U.S. around 1972 and has become a mainstay of outdoor
fitness programs, with a resurgence in popularity in the past five years.
Fitness trails are comprised of a path with outdoor exercise stations
and/or equipment installed along its length.
Integrated with the existing trail, the goals for the Hannabrook fitness trail
are:
Improve components of fitness such as balance, coordination, and
strength.
Provide fitness opportunities that will be suitable for all levels of
fitness, including youth and adults and meets 2010 ADA
Standards.
Promote multi- and inter-generational outdoor fitness
Encourage lifelong appreciation for both outdoor fitness and
recreational activities.
Bring increased awareness and visibility to the important
stormwater function of this park facility.
Each exercise station will provide a placard with basic and simple
instructions on how to use each station. With 120 different exercises
across the five stations, exercises are designed to focus on upper body,
lower body, balance & coordination or climbing/jumping equipment
designed to test the whole body.
Hannabrook Park is in the Viewridge/Madison neighborhood, at 5815
Brookridge Blvd in Everett. Details of our plan are included on Site Plan
L1.0
