Police Pension Board Minutes <br />City Of Everett <br />November 16, 2022 <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />Durable Medical Equipment <br />Moved by Neighbors, seconded by Thiessen, to adopt the durable medical equipment policy <br />to state, “Durable medical equipment and supplies include items such as crutches, diabetic <br />supplies, wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, hospital beds, oxygen equipment, CPAP devices, etc. <br />A written prescription and pre-approval are required by Medicare and/or the Pension Board. <br />Retirees on Medicare must use a "Medicare contracted supplier" and follow Medicare <br />requirements when renting or purchasing durable medical equipment. A list of Medicare <br />contracted suppliers is available on their website at www.Medicare.gov/supplier or by <br />contacting Medicare at 1-800-633-4227. <br />If you are unable to purchase or rent durable medical equipment from a Medicare contracted <br />supplier or the durable medical equipment is not covered by Medicare, you must submit a <br />request for pre-approval from the Pension Board if the cost exceeds $2,000. All requests must <br />include a written prescription from a physician, written quote from the supplier indicating <br />cost of the equipment, and a written statement from the member regarding why they are <br />unable to purchase or rent from a Medicare contracted supplier. Benefit levels will be <br />determined on a case-by-case basis.” <br /> <br /> <br />Roll was called with all members voting yes, except Board Members Franklin and Stonecipher <br />who were excused. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />The Board meeting adjourned at 9:24 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> _____________________________ <br /> Marista Jorve, Board Secretary
