i 4 4 ORDINANCE NO. 2621 An Ordinance providing for emergency expenditures in the City Clerk's Office of Everett caused by the employment of clerical assistance and the purchase of additional supplies and materials for use in the permanent reg- istration of voters in the various precincts of the city, providing for the issuance of emergency warrants therefor , and declaring an emergency. Whereas , by Initiative Ueasure No. 58, adopted November 8, 1932, an act was passed providing for the permanent registration of the voters of the various precincts in. the City of Everett , beginning January 1, 1934; And tiTH RF;AS, the City Council appropriated certain funds to be used in meeting the costs and expenses of such permanent registration in compliance with the said law, which fund is now depleted, requiring additional funds to continue and complete the work , in the payment of clerical assistance and materials and supplies to be used in the City Clerk's office , by issu- ing emergency warrants therefor. Now, Therefore , THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1 . That a public emergency exists and the amount of the ex- penditures therefor could not reasonably have been foreseen. at the time of making the budget for the year 1934 (to-wit , in October, 1933) ; that said emergency has been caused by the immediate necessity of providing clerical assistance , additional supplies and materials to be used in making perman- ent registration of the voters in the various precincts of the city of Ev- erett , in the City Clerk's office . That the amount of money needed to meet such emergency is in the es- timated sum of Five' Hundred ( 5OO) Dollars to be used in the City Clerk's office for clerical assistance , supplies and materials in the permanent reg- istration of the voters at the City-Hall in the city of Everett, and said amount is hereby appropriated to cover said emergency. Section 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of Everett the said sum of Five Hundred g500) Dollars to pay said emergen- cy expenditures , which shall be paid by the issuance of emergency warrants on said general fund, by the proper officers of verett , as is provided by law. -1-
