August 9, 2023 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m., August 9, 2023, <br />by President Stonecipher. <br />Upon roll call, it was found that Mayor Franklin and Council Members Fosse, Rhyne, Schwab, <br />Vogeli, Zarlingo, Tuohy, and Stonecipher were present. <br />Council Member Zarlingo led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Fosse read the land acknowledgement. <br />The minutes of the August 2, 2023, City Council meeting were approved. <br />MAYOR’S COMMENTS <br />Mayor Franklin congratulated Everett Housing Authority on the opening of Madrona Square. She <br />also stated staff will work on housing for the people currently living in the Waits Motel. Mayor <br />Franklin also thanked President Stonecipher for scheduling upcoming briefings on the Jail and <br />Court diversion programs. <br />Mayor Franklin welcomed Police Chief Dan Templeman to introduce a new police officer. <br />OATH – POLICE OFFICER <br />Moved by Council Member Tuohy, seconded by Council Member Vogeli, to concur with the <br />appointment of Logan Richard as a new police officer. <br />Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br />Motion carried. <br />The City Clerk administered the oath of office, Mayor Franklin pinned Officer Richard with his <br />badge, and Mayor Franklin and Council members congratulated Officer Richard. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Council received 12 written comments and the following members of the public spoke: Jeramy <br />Olson and Willie Russell.
