• • t . t <br /> 0 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2609 . <br /> An Ordinance mending Sections 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 of Ordinance No . 2483, <br /> providing for the fixing and determining of the various officers, assistants, <br /> deputies and employees of the City of Everett, Washington, reducing the number <br /> of officers and employees of the several departments thereof for reasons of eco- <br /> nomy and for the curtailment of expenses of the said City, prescribing the du- <br /> ties of such officers, assistants, deputies and employees, fixing their salaries, <br /> repealing Ordinance No. 2607 and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in <br /> conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency: <br /> TH3 CITY OF EV RETT DOES ORD. IN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as fol- <br /> lows, to-wit: Section 4: There shall be the following officers and assistants <br /> in the Health Department, to-wit: One Health Officer, one Deputy Health Officer, <br /> one Milk and Food Inspector, one Clerk and Stenographer (half time) . It shall <br /> be the duty of the deputy health officer, milk and food inspector, clerk and <br /> stenographer to perform the duties pertaining to said department under the di- <br /> rection of the health officer and the commissioner of public safety. The office <br /> of the meat inspector is temporarily abolished for reasons of economy and to cur- <br /> tail the expenses of the department . <br /> Section 2t That Section 5 of Ordinance No . 2483 be amended to read as fol- <br /> Section 5: <br /> lows, to-wit: / There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the <br /> Police Department, to-wit: One Chief of Police , one Captain, one Chief of Bur- <br /> eau of Identification, two Desk Sergeants, two detectives, seventeen patrolmen, <br /> one police matron, one jailor and cook, one stenographer (half time). Patrolmen <br /> for the first year of service shall be classed as third class patrolmen; patrol- <br /> men for the second year of service shall be classed as second class patrolmen; <br /> and patrolmen for the third year and thereafter shall be classed as first class <br /> patrolmen. It shall be the duty of the officers and assistants in said depart- <br /> ment to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment and such <br /> other duties as the Chief of Police and Commissioner of Safety authorize and di- <br /> rect. The Chief of Police shall be the administrative head of the Police Depart- <br /> ment. <br /> Section 3: That Section 7 of Ordinance No. 2483 be amended to read as fol- <br /> lows , to-wit: Section 7: There shall be the following named officers and assist- <br /> ants in the Fire Department, to-wit: Chief of the Fire Department, Assistant <br /> Chief of the Fire Department, Second Assistant Chief of the Fire Department, <br /> -1- <br />
