The proposed project appears to involve installing two prefabricated rooms with lids in an existing
building. The submitted documents are not sufficient to show the proposed work. Sheet A.9A.1 only
shows isometric views of the framing for the two "DYNO"rooms;the Control Room is not shown. In
addition this sheet shows the rooms as "existing"with minor modifications. Architectural and
structural plans for the rooms should be provided showing compliance with the applicable
requirements of the IBC. Additional comments are provided below, but these are not intended as a
comprehensive list of all requirements that may apply to this project.
2. Architectural plans for the rooms should be provided. Information to be specified includes but is not
limited to:
a. Construction Type per IBC Chapter 6. The construction should be consistent with the
permitted type for the building.
b. Occupancy classification(s) for the rooms and the proposed uses. The occupancy(s)and
uses should be consistent with the permitted classification for the building, or as otherwise
allowed by IBC Chapter 5.
c. Egress doors
3. Structural plans, including sections and details, and calculations should be submitted for review. The
plans and calculations should demonstrate compliance with IBC Chapter 16,ASCE 7-16, and the
applicable reference standards for the proposed material(e.g., steel, etc.). The lateral system should
comply with ASCE 7-16 Section 12.2.1.
Responses:
1. The two rooms are already fabricated and are being relocated from another location. We have
added additional documents, plans and sections to further illustrate how they were fabricated and
their size and function as requested.
2. See the additional project information added to the set and plans/elevations/section added in
sheets A.2A.1,A.3.0,A.9A.1,A.9A.2, and A.9A.3.
2a: The materials in the units meet the requirements for Type IIIB per IBC 602.3 Type II that allows
"interior building elements are of any material permitted by this code." Framing components are all
non-combustible steel members.
2b: The units are for testing components associated with the type Factory occupancy already
established. The components are part of both aircraft manufacturing and electronics as listed in IBC
306.1 under Factory and are not a change of use.
