ORDINANCE NO. �572 <br /> An Ordinance regulating the use of the public scales of the City of <br /> Everett, providing for the weighing of supplies and materials purchased <br /> by said City, fixing the charges for the use of such public scales by <br /> the general public, repealing Ordinance No. 992 and all Ordinances or <br /> parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency: <br /> TIE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. All the supplies and materials purchased by weight by <br /> the City of Everett or by any officer or department thereof in behalf <br /> of sail City shall be weighed on the public scales and paid for by said <br /> City in accordance with the weight so returned. A certificate of such <br /> weight shall be attached to any and all claims for such supplies and ma- <br /> terials so sold to the City as a part of said claim, and no such claim <br /> shall be audited or allowed without such certificate of weight being so <br /> attached. <br /> Section 2. It shall be the duty of the Commissioner of Public works <br /> to appoint a weigh-master, which appointment shall be confirmed by the <br /> City Council, who shall operate and conduct said public scales and he is <br /> hereby authorized to make written certificates as to the weights of all <br /> articles, materials or supplies so weighed by him. <br /> Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation so desiring shall be en- <br /> titled to have any article, material or goods, wares or merchandise so <br /> weighed on the City scales by the weigh master thereof at any time during <br /> the hours between eight (8) A.M. and five (5) P'.M., by paying in advance <br /> to said weigh-master the sum of twenty cents for each load or part there- <br /> of, the weight of which is to be so certified. <br /> Provided, however, that no such charge shall be made in weighing re- <br /> quired by Section One herein. <br /> Section 4. Said weigh-master shall pay over all such receipts to the <br /> City Treasurer at the time and in the manner required by the city charter <br /> and take such Treasurer's receipt therefor. It shall be his duty to report <br /> to the City Council at its first regular meeting of each month a report of <br /> the business done by him during the previous month. Said weigh-master shall <br /> receive as full compensation for his services, and no more, the amount of <br /> -1- <br />
