Mr. Brian Bodge
Globodyne Industries
Plan Check Number: B2303-051, First Building Review
March 20, 2023
Architectural
1. The reconstructed wall is anticipated to impact the exterior weather envelop, including but not
limited to the intersection of the roofing system with the parapet wall. Details for the envelop
should be included in the drawings. See IBC Section 1503.
2. The work includes demolition and reconstruction of the exterior wall. The reconstructed wall is
required to comply with the energy provisions for new construction per WSEC Chapter 4. See
WSEC Section C503.3.
Structural
1. The drawings should include a schedule of special inspections per IBC Section 1705.4.
2. Sections and details should be submitted for the proposed construction. Notes do not provide
sufficient information for review and inspection of the proposed work. See IBC Sections 107.2.1
and 1603.1.
3. Calculations substantiating the proposed construction should be submitted for review. The
calculations should substantiate the construction of the wall, including but not limited to the
flexural and shear capacities for structural spans over the windows, masonry spans between
anchors, anchor design, and supporting construction (e.g., walls, floors, roof, etc.). The design
should comply with IBC Sections 1402.3, 1404.6, 1604.8.2, 1604.1, 1604.4, and 1613.1, and
Chapter 21, ASCE 7-16 Section 12.11, and TMS 402-16.
4. Continuing with the previous comment, the work includes reconstruction of the masonry
parapets. The parapets should be designed for flexural and shear loading. Anchorage should
comply with ASCE 7-16 Section 12.11.2.2.7. See IBC Section 1613.1 and Chapter 21.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers -of -record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer / Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin@everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2023\B2303-051_R1.docx
3200 Cedar Street © 425.257.8810 O everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett, WA 98201 425.257.8857 fax everettwa.gov/permits
Page 2 of 2
