Aircraft Early Warning Fire Detection Systems Job: 111137
Fire Alarm System Submittal Manual Section 1
VESDA System Management Computer:
The VESDA System Management computer is located at the Boeing Fire & Security
Dispatch center. It provides a graphical user interface for real time display and control of
VESDA functions. The primary system display screen depicts all the aircraft positions in the
factory. Aircraft are shown in colors which indicate its current status with respect to the
VESDA system (green - normal, yellow - trouble, red - alarm, blue — isolate and white
outlined to indicate no airplane present ("Out of Service").
Secondary control "pop-up" screens are activated by clicking on an airplane symbol. The
pop-up window provides the following control function selections: "Normal On", "Reset",
"Isolate", "Out Of Service" and "Acknowledge".
Manual Stations:
A Manual Station is provided at each VESDA Control Panel location for manual initiation of
an alarm. The Manual Station transmits alarms to the MFAP via an addressable interface
module located in the VESDA Control Panel. Activation of the Manual Station will
immediately shutdown power to that aircraft position and transmit alarm signals
Save Switch:
A power shutdown Save Switch is provided on the front door of the Vesda Control Panel for
each aircraft position. The Save Switch transmits the abort signal to the MFAP via an
addressable
interface module located in the VESDA Control Panel. If High Level smoke alarm is present
on the Vesda control unit, depressing the yellow mushroom pushbutton switch will reset the
power shutdown time delay back to 60 seconds and an amber lamp mounted directly above
the pushbutton will illuminate. If the pushbutton is released with the alarm still present, the
shutdown timer will restart at 60 seconds timing to shutdown. Depressing the Save Switch
with no alarms present will indicate a trouble at the MFAP.
Horn/Strobe:
A Horn/Strobe alarm indicating device is provided at each aircraft position mounted directly
above the VESDA Control Panel. This device operates whenever a High Level Smoke
alarm is initiated on the Vesda Control Unit or a Manual Station is activated. The
Horn/Strobe is silenced by depressing the "Alarm Silence" push-button located inside the
VESDA Control Panel.
Seatronics, Inc. PO BOX 1138 Auburn, WA 98001 253-939-6060
