This project is ahead of schedule in our review, and the Building review can probably be completed
quickly once revised documents (should these be necessary) be received. Submit two new complete sets of drawings
should changes be required.
This email will serve as the Building review:
Architectural:
1. A schedule of energy credits should be provided in the construction drawings perthe 2018 WSEC Section
R406. Additional details may be required depending on the options selected.
Structural:
1. The proposed design removes the shear wall on the south side of the building. The building does not appear to
have adequate braced wall panels complying with the prescriptive limits of the IRC. In addition, it is not clear
that the building is provided with drag struts or diaphragm construction to transfer loads from the south half of
the building to other walls. Structural calculations substantiating the lateral design should be submitted for
review. Revisions to the design may be required. See IRC Section R301.1.3, and IBC Sections 1603.1, 1604.1,
and 1604.4.
Please let me know if you questions.
— Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer —Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 1 32W Cedar Street, 2n° Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F:7:30am-12:00pm&1;00pm-3:00pm; To: 1:00pm-3;00pm
everettwa.gov ( Facebook I Twitter
From: Mark Speidel <marks@ilgross.com>
Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 20213:13 PM
To: Drew Martin <dmarHn@everettwa.gov>; Jonathan Brandt <jb@jbarch.net>
Subject: RE: City of Everett Permit Services: 4815 Baker Drive (02105-038)
Hi Drew,
Per our conversation this morning, I went back and looked at the loads on the remaining walls on either side of the new
kitchen, and I think I will need to coordinate with Jonathan regarding the existing conditions before we can get you a
final answer. We will try to get any revisions wrapped up quickly, but It probably Isn't something l will be able to get
back onto your desk tomorrow.
