• <br /> ev <br /> ORDINANCENO. 2519 <br /> An Ordinance relating to and providing for the construction <br /> of , catch basins in all garages, service stations or establish- <br /> ments where vehicles are washed and providing a penalty for the <br /> violation thereof. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That all garages, service stations or establish- <br /> ments , where vehicles are washed, shall have a sump connected <br /> to a drainage system of iron pipe, leading to a trapped catch <br /> basin, and from such catch basin proper connections shall be <br /> made to a public sewer. Openings from sumps to drains shall be <br /> protected by iron strainers set in iron frames so as to be <br /> removable. Drainage pipe shall be not less than four (4) <br /> inches in diameter. Catfh basins must be constructed of <br /> masonry and shall have two compartments; the receiving com- <br /> partment shall be at least three (3) feet in any internal , <br /> dimension, and shall have a cover of iron or wood, bars set <br /> flush with the floor of the building. This compartment shall <br /> be connected with compartment No . 2 by a four inch trap set <br /> sixteen (16) inches below the floor of the building. The in- <br /> take of this trap shall extend at least two (2), feet below <br /> the top of compartment No. 1 . Compartment No. 2 shall be of <br /> the same depth as compartment No . 1 and shall be at least two <br /> feet in any other internal dimension. Compartment No. 2 shall <br /> be connected to the sewer system of the building with a four <br /> inch cast iron pipe. The outlet from compartment No . 2 being <br /> set the same as in compartment No. 1. The drain pipe from <br /> compartment No. 2 shall be provided with vent pipe set as near <br /> as possible to seal. Compartment No. 2 shall have a close <br /> iron <br /> fittinel/cover. The masonry walls and floor of this catch basin <br /> shall be not less than six (6) inches thick, excepting that <br />
