ABBREVIATED SPECIFICATIONS <br />NOTE: NOT ALL SPECIFICATION SECTIONS MAYBE NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT. CONTRACTOR TO APPLY SPEC. SECTIONS AS APPLICABLE TO SCOPE OF WORK. <br />GENERAL MECHANICAL <br />NOTE: <br />CONTRACTOR" MEANS "MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR" WHEN REFERENCED <br />ANYWHERE IN THE MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, UNLESS WORK <br />AND EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN COORDINATED BETWEEN THE MECHANICAL AND <br />GENERAL CONTRACTORS TO BE PROVIDED BY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR. <br />"NEEDED", "PROVIDE" AND "INSTALL" MEANS ALL ITEMS CALLED OUT IN THE <br />CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND ANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS NOT CALLED OUT BUT <br />REQUIRED TO MAKE A COMPLETE AND OPERATIONAL SYSTEM. <br />THE INTENT OF THE SPECIFICATIONS AND THE DRAWINGS IS TO VERIFY A <br />COMPLETE AND FULLY OPERATIONAL EXISTING MECHANICAL SYSTEM. THE <br />MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND INSTALL ALL LABOR, MATERIAL <br />AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO COMPLETE VERIFY THE FINAL OPERATING <br />CONDITIONS. <br />PERMITS AND FEES: THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROCURE AND PAY <br />FOR ALL PERMITS, FEES AND INSPECTIONS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE <br />MECHANICAL SCOPE OF WORK. <br />CODES: PERFORM ALL WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT <br />MECHANICAL CODE, STATE AND LOCAL CODES / ORDINANCES AND AHJ. ALL <br />WORK SHALL ALSO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH BUILDING OWNER'S CRITERIA. IN <br />CASE OF CONFLICT BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS, SPECIFICATIONS, CODES, <br />ORDINANCES AND AHJ, THE MOST STRINGENT STANDARD (IN THE OPINION OF <br />THE ENGINEER) SHALL APPLY. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL SATISFY <br />CODE, AHJ, DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS A MINIMUM STANDARD, <br />WITHOUT ANY EXTRA COST. <br />THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE REQUIRED MECHANICAL <br />WORK WITH OTHER TRADES AND THE OWNER. <br />STANDARDS: EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS SHALL CONFORM WITH <br />APPROPRIATE PROVISIONS OF ARL, ASME, ASTM, UL, NEMA, ANSI, SMACNA, <br />ASHRAE, NFPA, OTHER APPLICABLE AGENCIES AND AHJ, AS APPLICABLE TO <br />EACH INDIVIDUAL UNIT OR ASSEMBLY. <br />SITE EXAMINATION: THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL THOROUGHLY <br />EXAMINE ALL AREAS WHERE EQUIPMENT, DUCTWORK AND PIPING WILL BE <br />INSTALLED AND SHALL REPORT ANY CONDITION THAT PREVENTS THE PROPER <br />INSTALLATION OF THE MECHANICAL WORK. <br />AIR HANDLING EQUIPMENT & MATERIALS <br />ALL AIR HANDLING & HVAC SYSTEMS ARE EXISTING ARE INTENDED TO BE <br />RE -USED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT AND SERVICE THE EXISTING <br />SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS NOTIFYING THE OWNER IF REPAIRS OR <br />REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEM COMPONENTS ARE NEEDED. <br />OPERATIONAL AIRFLOWS ARE CALLED OUT IN THE PERMIT DOCUMENTS. THE <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT THE EXISTING SYSTEM CAN MEET THESE <br />REQUIREMENTS. IF THERE ARE DEFICIENCIES THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY <br />THE OWNER AND WORK WITH THE ENGINEER OF RECORD TO INITIATE SYSTEM <br />CHANGES TO RESTORE SYSTEMS TO AIRFLOWS AS NEEDED. <br />DUCTWORK AND ACCESSORIES <br />SHEETMETAL DUCTWORK: ALL DUCTWORK IS EXISTING AND SHALL BE <br />EXAMINED BY THE CONTRACTOR FOR COMPLETENESS AND CONDITION. <br />REQUIRED REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENTS SHALL BE PRESENTED TO THE OWNER. <br />CONTROLS <br />EXISTING CONTROLS SHALL REMAIN AND BE RE -USED. THE CONTRACTOR <br />SHALL TEST AND VERIFY - INFORMING THE OWNER OF DEFICIENCIES AND <br />POTENTIAL REPAIRS AND/OR REPLACEMENT. AWAIT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE <br />PROCEEDING WITH CHANGES. <br />TESTING, ADJUSTING, AND BALANCING <br />KITCHEN VENTILATION SYSTEMS: <br />VERIFY THE AIRFLOWS (EXHAUST AND MAKEUP AIR) MATCH CFMS DEFINED IN <br />THESE PLANS.
