The applicant should forward these to the engineer-of-record (EOR and provide
revisions to the design. Note that these should not need to be issued to Permit Services for a review;
the fixes to the drawings can be handled in the field unless a significant design change occurs.
1. Detail 1/54.1 includes pile caps, not footings bearing on grade. The exceptions of IBC Section
1705.3 do not apply. Concrete special inspection is required per IBC Table 1705.3, including but
not limited to rebar placement, steel and concrete materials (e.g., steel strength, mix design,
etc.), and concrete placement.
2. The rebar mat at the bottom of the footing does not appear to be correctly placed. At a
minimum, additional reinforcement may be required at the top above the piles to provide
adequate strength against punching shears. The EOR should provide a punching analysis of the
top 4" of the pile cap, if not already included in the original submittal documents, and verify that
sufficient capacity is provided. Additional top reinforcement should be specified as needed.
— Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 1 3200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/T: 8 am - 12 pm & 1 pm—3 pm;Tu: 1:OOpm-3:OOpm
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
