The plans specified (N) 5/8" type 'X' GWB <br /> to achieve fire rated construction per code and to match (E) GWB. The contractor verified during construction <br /> the (E) GWB was not 5/8" and so 1/2" exterior rated GWB was installed. Since there was (E) 1/2" GWB <br /> undamaged along a portion of the walls, the code does allow for replacement of the GWB with like kind and <br /> quality materials, so long as there is no rho nee in use or occupancy and the construction does not result in an <br /> increase in non-code compliance. The installation of the (N) 1/2" GWB is acceptable per code as it matches what <br /> was there originally and it was not completely replaced along individual walls. The fastener sizes and spacing for <br /> the t/z"GWB shall match the 5/8"GWB fastener sizes and spacing specified on the plans. <br /> This concludes BCIE's response to your RFI for revisions to the breezeway GWB for the Woodbrook Apartments <br /> fire damage restoration.
