If GPS Machine Controls are used to provide grade control, then roadbed 1 <br />and surfacing stakes may be omitted at the discretion of the Contractor. 2 <br /> 3 <br />7. Establish intermediate elevation benchmarks as needed to check work 4 <br />throughout the project. 5 <br /> 6 <br />8. Provide references for paving pins at 25-foot intervals or provide simultaneous 7 <br />surveying to establish location and elevation of paving pins as they are being 8 <br />placed. 9 <br /> 10 <br />9. For all other types of construction included in this provision, (including but not 11 <br />limited to channelization and pavement marking, illumination and signals, 12 <br />guardrails and barriers, and signing) provide staking and layout as necessary to 13 <br />adequately locate, construct, and check the specific construction activity. 14 <br /> 15 <br />10. Contractor shall determine if changes are needed to the profiles or roadway 16 <br />sections shown in the Contract Plans in order to achieve proper smoothness 17 <br />and drainage where matching into existing features, such as a smooth transition 18 <br />from new pavement to existing pavement. The Contractor shall submit these 19 <br />changes to the Engineer for review and approval 10 days prior to the beginning 20 <br />of work. 21 <br /> 22 <br />The Contractor shall provide the Contracting Agency copies of any calculations and 23 <br />staking data when requested by the Engineer. 24 <br /> 25 <br />The Contractor shall ensure a surveying accuracy within the following tolerances: 26 <br /> 27 <br /> Vertical Horizontal 28 <br />Slope stakes ±0.10 feet ±0.10 feet 29 <br />Subgrade grade stakes set 30 <br /> 0.04 feet below grade ±0.01 feet ±0.5 feet 31 <br /> (parallel to alignment) 32 <br /> ±0.1 feet 33 <br /> (normal to alignment) 34 <br /> 35 <br />Stationing on roadway N/A ±0.1 feet 36 <br />Alignment on roadway N/A ±0.04 feet 37 <br />Surfacing grade stakes ±0.01 feet ±0.5 feet 38 <br /> (parallel to alignment) 39 <br /> ±0.1 feet 40 <br /> (normal to alignment) 41 <br /> 42 <br />Roadway paving pins for 43 <br /> surfacing or paving ±0.01 feet ±0.2 feet 44 <br /> (parallel to alignment) 45 <br /> ±0.1 feet 46 <br /> (normal to alignment) 47 <br /> 48 <br />The Contracting Agency may spot-check the Contractor's surveying.
