JO&
•R ENGINEERING
• Foundations: Shallow conventional isolated or continuous spread footings could be supported
on properly compacted structural fill placed directly over the dense Vashon Till deposits or on
the undisturbed dense Vashon Till deposits using a maximum allowable pressure of 2,500 psf or
3,000 psf, respectively.
• Floors: Soil -supported slab -on -grade floors can be used for the proposed structures contingent
on proper subgrade preparation. The concrete slab would need to be supported on capillary
break material overlyingfrm, unyielding native soils or on suitable structural fill soils.
• On -site Soil Considerations: Most of the on -site soils are highly moisture -sensitive and would be
readily disturbed when wet, the contractor should install appropriate temporary drainage
systems at the construction site and should minimize traffic over exposed subgrades. Ideally,
earthwork would be scheduled for the summer and fall months, when drier weather will
maximize the potential for reusing on -site soils and when groundwater levels will likely at their
seasonal low.
MP ENGINEERING, PLLC MPGEOTECH.COM
