EXHIBIT “B” <br /> <br />RESPONSE TO SPECIFIC CRITERIA FOR A VACATION GRANT <br /> <br />Criteria Petitioner Response <br />1. No present need exists for the <br />street or alley <br />The abutting property is vacant. <br />2. No foreseeable future need <br />exists and the street or alley is <br />clearly surplus property <br />The vacation supports future redevelopment of the <br />surrounding property. The functionality of the vacated <br />streets will be replaced with new dedicated streets. <br />3. That there would be no <br />adverse or damaging effect to <br />abutting or neighboring <br />properties, nor discomforts <br />caused to the inhabitants, or <br />occupants thereof <br />The abutting property is vacant with no inhabitants or <br />occupants. The functionality of the vacated streets will be <br />replaced with new dedicated streets which will be <br />designed and constructed under current transportation <br />standards and improve benefits to the public interest. <br />4. That benefit would be derived <br />by the neighborhood and/or <br />City from the vacation <br />The vacation supports future redevelopment of the <br />surrounding property. The Park District will be a 16-acre <br />development with up to 1,500 mixed-income housing <br />units, new community-centered retail, civic uses, open <br />spaces, and other neighborhood amenities near public <br />transit. <br /> <br />The Park District will be possible with a reconfigured, <br />more efficient street network. The current street network <br />forms narrow blocks which are not efficient for <br />development and the current streets do not meet current <br />transportation standards. <br /> <br />The functionality of the vacated streets will be replaced <br />with new dedicated streets which will be designed and <br />constructed under current transportation standards and <br />improve benefits to the public interest, the neighborhood, <br />and the City. <br /> <br />
