Fire Deportment Connection (FDQ: <br />PASS FAIL N/A <br />14. <br />Location- Verify on the Approved/Stamped set of plans the approved location of <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />the FDC. Fire Department connection shall be within 75 feet of a fire hydrant and <br />100 feet when work is being done to an existing building. <br />15. <br />Arrangement/Orientation- The FDC shall be assessable and arranged/orientated <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />so a hose line can be attached to the inlets without interference. <br />16. <br />Specifications— The FDC shall be an approved type and comply with the following: <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />• Have two 2 Y fire department inlet connections <br />• Brass (Not Painted) <br />• Have a Schedule 40 galvanized steel post painted red (if not wall mounted) <br />• Couplings shall have swivel fittings with NH internal threads <br />• FDC shall be located 24 to 60 inches above the final grade <br />• Protected from mechanical damage <br />• Supported with a minimum of an l8"x18"x8"concert base <br />• A clear working space not less than 36 inches in width, 36 inches in depth <br />and 78 inches in height shall be provided <br />17, <br />Check Valve- A listed check valve shall be installed in each fire department <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />connection. <br />18. <br />Automatic Drip- An automatic drip shall be installed between the check valve and <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />the outside hose coupling in a location that Permits inspection and testing and <br />reduces the likelihood of freezing. <br />19. <br />No Shutoff Valve- No shutoff valve shall be permitted in the piping from thefire <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />department connection piping to the point that the fire department connection <br />piping connects to the system piping. <br />Post Indicator Valve (PIV): <br />PASS FAIL N/A <br />20, <br />Assessable & Visible- Both Remote Post Indicator Valves and Wall Post Indicator <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />Valves shall be easily accessible, and the Open/Closed indicator shall be visible at <br />all times. <br />21. <br />Remote PIV- Remote Post Indicator Valves shall be set so that the top of the post <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />is 32 to 40 inches above the final grade. <br />22. <br />Wall PIV- Wall Post Indicator Valves are permitted. <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />23. <br />Protection- Post Indicator Valves shall be protected against mechanical damage. <br />El ❑ ❑ <br />Fire Marshal's Office 142525761 DO I eerettwa.gov/fire I NFOFMATION HANDOUT G6 I4.13,2020I Psge3 <br />
