The building includes atypical tall walls that are balloon framed with the
floor system. Additional king studs should be provided. Additional modifications should be
performed as required for the detail to be compatible with the existing framing. See Sections
R602.7 and R602.7.5. ? L,ri ? This comment has not been corn e ely addressed. An engineered design has been performed
for the anchors per Section R301.1.3, including post-installed anchors. Hold-down and shear
anchor designs are required per ACI 318-14 Sections 17.2.3.4.3 and 17.2.3.5.3, respectively.
The holdown design should include vertical seismic effects per ASCE 7-10 Section 12.4.2.2. See
IBC Sections 1604.1, 1604.4, 1613.1, and 1901.2.
-a. New hold down anchors are required at the north corners to resist the uplift on the
" east and west end shear walls. Wind governs the hold down load, but the seismic
provisions govern the post-installed anchor bolt. The Simpson anchor analysis
provided meets ACI318-14 17.2.3.4.3(d).
(b.
