From: Drew Martin
Sent: Monday, March 2, 2020 3:19 PM
To: 'rochelle@catchstudio.com'; 'nos@catchstudio.com'
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services: 2621 Rockefeller Avenue (131912-029)
Hello Rochelle,
This email recaps our discussion of this project. There are a couple of items that appear to be missing
from the construction drawings that I can redline. I will need you to provide additional information for
the existing roof that will support new equipment weight in addition to existing equipment and other
weights (e.g., snow, etc.). The following should be addressed:
1. Structural calculations evaluating the existing roof structure for all existing and new weights
should be submitted for review. Note that the Key Plan on Sheet M1 includes posts down the
length of the building, suggesting that beams may run between these, and that the roof joists
may run in the east -west. If this is correct, then the orientation of the joists shown in the section
on Sheet M2 is not correct. The joist orientation should be verified.
2. It is presumed that modification of the roof structure is not required. If modification is required,
a separate building permit will be required. Alternatively, structural modifications may be
included in the building permit for this project. Note that this review has been completed. It is
recommended that changes and additions be made before the permit is issued.
3. The MUA may require secondary structural framing, such as blocking between the joists, to
support the units. Minor framing of this nature may be included in the mechanical drawings. A
detail should be included in the construction drawings.
Please let me know if you have questions.
— Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer — Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 1 3200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: Monday— Friday 7:30am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
Note: Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant
to the Public Records Act.
