Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission <br />Page 4 of 9 <br /> <br />o Time, salaries, benefits and wages for officers or deputies who possess a <br />Washington State Peace Officers Certification, are fully commissioned to <br />enforce the laws of Washington State, and who have not completed a BMLE <br />course is acceptable ONLY when working with an RBS trained officer AND <br />when the agency has a written ‘two-officer’ policy for officers on marine patrol <br />for the purpose of officer safety. <br />• RBS EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION <br />Providing instructors for the Adventures in Boating course that qualifies graduates for <br />the required mandatory boater education card. Costs may include classroom <br />supplies, light refreshments, other goods and services necessary to promote and <br />teach classes, and officer salaries, benefits and wages. Officer salaries will only be <br />reimbursed for those officers who have successfully completed a State Parks <br />Adventures in Boating Instructor Training class and are listed on our files. <br />Life jackets (USCG approved only) for the state Adventures in Boating course and <br />other RBS presentations, such as: throw rings or cushions for loaners and the cost to <br />print only the agency’s name or RBS safety messages. <br />• RBS TRAINING <br />Grant or VRF funds can be used to pay for full-time and reserve officers who are fully <br />commissioned to enforce the laws of the State of Washington to attend training <br />provided by the Boating Program or courses approved by the Boating Program. <br />Note: Approval from State Parks is mandatory if an officer or deputy is <br />applying for a non-Washington RBS course. Examples of approved courses <br />include: <br />o MLE Instructor Meeting <br />o Basic Marine Law Enforcement/Boat Crew Member or equivalent (BMLE) <br />o Boat Operator Search and Rescue (BOSAR) <br />o Boating Under the Influence – Basic (BUI-Basic) <br />o Boating Under the Influence-Advanced (BUI-Adv) <br />o Personal Watercraft for Law Enforcement (PWCLE) <br />o Enhanced Vessel Operator Course (EVOC) <br />o Fall Marine Law Enforcement Conference <br />o Boating Accident Investigation-Level 1 <br />o Officer Water Survival <br />o Boater Education Instructor Training (BEIT) <br />o Designated Education Officer Training (DEOT) <br />o Adventures in Boating Instructor Training
