In compliance with the 2012 IBC and the 2015 IBC, seismic bracing is to be installed on <br /> all suspended HVAC duct runs and mechanical components per ISAT's engineered <br /> bracing tables, ISAT's installation details and the following criteria. <br /> BRACING REQUIREMENTS FOR SUSPENDED HVAC DUCT <br /> AND MECHANICAL COMPONENTS <br /> Seismic <br /> Design ip a Service Bracing Requirements <br /> Category <br /> A and B All No Bracing Required <br /> C 1.0 No Bracing Required <br /> Brace All Duct Designed To Carry Or Convey Toxic, Highly <br /> C > 1.0 Toxic Or Flammable Gases Or Used For Smoke Control. <br /> and <br /> D, E, F > 1.0 Brace All Duct Having A Cross-Sectional Area > 6 ft2 Or <br /> Weighing > 17 Lbs/LF. <br /> a. 1p= Component Importance Factor. <br /> 2. Where component 1p = 1.0, seismic restraints are not required for: <br /> a. Components weighing < 20 lbs (75 lbs, OSSC) or distributed systems < 5 lb/If <br /> having flexible connections between equipment and associated utilities. <br /> b. Floor supported components weighing less than 400 lbs., with a center of mass <br /> located 4 ft or less above the adjacent floor, the component is attached via flexible <br /> connections between itself and associated utilities (conduit, piping, etc.) and the <br /> component is positively attached to the floor (ASCE 7-10, 13.1.4 -6.c.) except <br /> components requiring Special Seismic Certification. <br /> 3.
