Section 7: Violations <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, <br /> repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any <br /> building or structure or cause or permit the same to be done in violation of this code. <br /> Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this code shall be deemed <br /> guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine not to <br /> exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment in jail not to exceed ninety (90) <br /> days, or both fine and imprisonment. Each separate day or any portion thereof during <br /> which any violation of this code occurs or continues shall be deemed to constitute a <br /> separate offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable as herein provided. The <br /> issuance or granting of a permit or approval of plans and specifications shall not be <br /> deemed or construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the <br /> provisions of this code or any other law or regulation. No permit presuming to give <br /> authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code shall be valid, except insofar as <br /> the work or use which it authorized is lawful. <br /> Section 8: Permits and Inspections <br /> A. General. No building or structure regulated by this code shall be erected, <br /> constructed, enlarged, altered,repaired,moved, improved, removed, converted or <br /> demolished unless a separate permit for each building or structure has first been obtained <br /> from the building official in the manner and according to the applicable conditions <br /> prescribed in the Building Code. <br /> B. Fees. When a building permit is required by this code, the appropriate fees shall be <br /> paid as specified in the Building Code. <br /> C. Inspection. Buildings or structures within the scope of this code and all construction <br /> or work for which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by the building <br /> official in accordance with and in the manner provided by this code and the Building <br /> Code. <br /> Section 9: Definitions <br /> A. General. For the purpose of this code, certain terms,phrases, words and their <br /> derivatives shall be construed as specified in either this chapter or as specified in the <br /> Building Code. Where terms are not defined, they shall have their ordinary accepted <br /> meanings within the context with which they are used. Webster's Third New <br /> International Dictionary of the English Language, Unabridged, copyright 1986, shall be <br /> considered as providing ordinary accepted meanings. Words used in the singular include <br /> the plural and the plural the singular. Words used in the masculine gender include the <br /> feminine and the feminine the masculine. <br /> B. Building Code. "Building Code"means the Building Code as adopted by the City. <br /> C. Building Official. "Building official" includes the Director of Code Compliance or <br /> designee except as it relates to: (1)non-residential buildings; or(2)the modification of the <br /> 4 <br />
