711,471 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2336-98 <br /> AN ORDINANCE repealing Ordinance No. 589-79, as amended(Chapter 16.46 EMC), <br /> City's Condominium Conversion Ordinance. <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 589-79 (Chapter 16.46 EMC) sets forth procedures <br /> regulating the conversion of residential rental units to condominiums, providing <br /> protections for tenants and purchasers in converted buildings, adopting measures to <br /> mitigate the adverse effects of conversion displacement and providing penalties for <br /> violations; and <br /> WHEREAS, since the adoption of Ordinance No. 589-79, Chapter 64.34 of the Revised <br /> Code of Washington has been enacted,which provides similar procedures for the <br /> regulation of conversion of rental residential rental units to condominiums which <br /> effectively supersedes the City's regulation thereof; and <br /> WHEREAS,to ensure consistency with state law it is advantageous to the City to repeal <br /> its provisions related to condominium conversions; <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Ordinance No. 589-79 (EMC 16.46.010 through EMC 16.46.190), which <br /> reads as follows: <br /> Part I. Title: Definitions <br /> Section 1.1. Short Title: The ordinance codified in this chapter may be cited as the <br /> "Condominium Conversion Ordinance." <br /> Section 1.2. Definitions: The following words and phrases used in this Ordinance shall <br /> have the meanings set forth below: <br /> (1)Acceptance of Offer of Sale: A written commitment for the purchase of a <br /> condominium unit at a specific price and on specific terms. <br />
