These valves control the direct filtration of raw water into clean
potable water. The valves and actuators need to be replaced as they have a high failure rate,
require custom parts, and are critical in the reliable operation of the facility.
The City Water Filtration Plant has standardized on the combination of Val-Matic butterfly valves
and Rotork actuators to match the previously upgraded system, reduce the amount and variety
of spare parts, and aid in performance and reliability. There are a total of eight filters at the
filtration plant. The anticipated cost is based on replacing the valves and actuators on two filters
each year, which will take four years to complete.
City forces will be responsible for the installation of the valves.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Authorize release of Invitation for Bid #2024-018 Val-Matic Butterfly Valves and Rotork Actuators
in the form substantially provided.
