Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize
the sender and know the content is safe.

Dear Everett City Council Members,

The 2023 WA State Legislature attempted and succeeding in raising property and other taxes
in the last year, devoting much time in passing more tax increases to fund more committees
that were previously nonexistent.

The Snohomish County Council attempted and raised property taxes in the past two years.

For what reason do you feel the need to raises property taxes further? These increases not
only affect property owners but in turn those who rent or lease property including most every
small business owner. Prices will have to increase for everything just adding more and more
to a horrible inflation.

Yet the city wants to invest in housing homeless people without any obligation on the part of
the individuals and without any help provided to them. This is not an investment, rather it is the
city’s attempt to merely get homeless off of the streets as that is an embarrassment to the
city, and housing them without help to them gives the appearance of having done something.

This property tax increase will not provide new or additional services to property owners, to
the small business communities, to the citizens of Everett. There will be no additional police
officers hired to protect any of us at a time when theft and more serious crimes abound in
Everett.

So my questions what exactly do the taxpayers receive for an additional 3% property tax
increase? Unfortunately it will be just enough to put some struggling home owners out of their
homes! Inflation is at record rates, already many people depend on food banks in order to
provide food for their families. There is no excuse for reckless property tax increases.

This is a time for the Everett City Council to tighten their own budget and cut expenditures,
certainly NOT to pass yet another property tax increase. What has the Everett City Council
cut from their budget this year?

Please let me know how you will vote on this and why? Voters will certainly want to know.

Sincerely,
