2024 Pavement Maintenance Overlay SPECIAL PROVISIONS PW# 3823 54 When more than one JMF is being utilized to produce HMA, the material produced for 1 each JMF shall be placed by separate spreading and compacting equipment. The 2 intermingling of HMA produced from more than one JMF is prohibited. Each strip of HMA 3 placed during a work shift shall conform to a single JMF established for the class of HMA 4 specified unless there is a need to make an adjustment in the JMF. 5 6 5-04.3(8) Aggregate Acceptance Prior to Incorporation in HMA 7 For HMA accepted by nonstatistical evaluation the aggregate properties of sand 8 equivalent, uncompacted void content and fracture will be evaluated in accordance with 9 Section 3-04. Sampling and testing of aggregates for HMA accepted by commercial 10 evaluation will be at the option of the Engineer. 11 12 5-04.3(8)A1 General 13 Nonstatistical evaluation shall be used for the acceptance of HMA for this project. 14 15 The Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) for the mix design for the following area: 16 17 Broadway – 7,000,000.00 18 Hewitt – 7,500,000.00 19 Rucker Avenue – 8,500,000.00 20 21 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The contractor may request a 22 change in the JMF. Any adjustment to the JMF will require the approval of the Project 23 Engineer and may be made in accordance with Section 9-03.8(7). 24 25 5-04.3(9) HMA Mixture Acceptance 26 Acceptance of HMA shall be as provided under nonstatistical, or commercial evaluation. 27 28 Nonstatistical evaluation will be used for the acceptance of HMA unless Commercial 29 Evaluation is specified. 30 31 Commercial evaluation will be used for Commercial HMA and for other classes of HMA 32 in the following applications: sidewalks, road approaches, ditches, slopes, paths, trails, 33 gores, prelevel, temporary pavement, and pavement repair. Other nonstructural 34 applications of HMA accepted by commercial evaluation shall be as approved by the 35 Engineer. Sampling and testing of HMA accepted by commercial evaluation will be at the 36 option of the Engineer. 37 38 The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA.
