2024 Pavement Maintenance Overlay SPECIAL PROVISIONS PW# 3823 66 a. Keep intersections open to traffic at all times, except when paving or planing 1 operations through an intersection requires closure. Such closure must be kept 2 to the minimum time required to place and compact the HMA mixture, or plane 3 as appropriate. For paving, schedule such closure to individual lanes or portions 4 thereof that allows the traffic volumes and schedule of traffic volumes required in 5 the approved traffic control plan. Schedule work so that adjacent intersections 6 are not impacted at the same time and comply with the traffic control restrictions 7 required by the Contracting Agency. Each individual intersection closure or 8 partial closure, must be addressed in the traffic control plan, which must be 9 submitted to and accepted by the Engineer, see Section 1-10.2(2). 10 b. When planing or paving and related construction must occur in an 11 intersection, schedule and sequence such work into quarters of the intersection, 12 or half or more of an intersection with side street detours unless otherwise 13 directed by the Engineer. Be prepared to sequence the work to individual lanes 14 or portions thereof. 15 c. Allow new compacted HMA asphalt to cool to ambient temperature before 16 any traffic is allowed on it. Traffic is not allowed on newly placed asphalt until 17 approval has been obtained from the Engineer. 18 2. Temporary centerline marking, post-paving temporary marking, temporary stop 19 bars, and maintaining temporary pavement marking must comply with Section 8-20 23. 21 3. Permanent pavement marking must comply with Section 8-22. 22 23 24 5-04.3(15) Vacant 25 26 5-04.3(16) HMA Road Approaches 27 HMA approaches shall be constructed at the locations shown in the Plans or where 28 staked by the Engineer. The Work shall be performed in accordance with Section 5-04. 29 30 5-04.4 Measurement 31 “Planing Bituminous Pavement (2” Deep)”, shall be measured by the square yard. 32 33 “HMA Class ½”, PG 64-22”, shall be measured by the ton. 34 35 5-04.5 Payment 36 Payment will be made in accordance with Section 1-04.1, for each of the following bid 37 items that are included in the proposal: 38 39 “HMA Class ½” PG 64-22”, per ton. 40 41 The unit contract price per ton for “HMA Class ½” PG 64-22”, shall be full compensation 42 for all costs incurred to carry out the requirements of Section 5-04 except for those costs 43 included in other items which are included in the sub-section and which are included in 44 the proposal. 45 46 HMA for Pre-leveling, if required by the Engineer, will be paid for under bid item, “HMA 47 Class ½” PG 64-22”, per ton. 48 49
